About us

Lars Jonsson Trading AB was founded in 1994 by Mr. Lars Jonsson, a shipbroker with more than 30 years experience in chartering. Lars Jonsson started in shipping with Olof Brodin (Chartering) AB in 1967. After working with the Brodin company for almost 11 years he joined up with Mr. Jan Hakansson and founded the shipbroking company Partship AB and became the exclusive brokers for the drycargo fleet of Nordsjofrakt AB, Skarhamn (later renamed to B&N and then Transatlantic). After many prosperous years with Partship AB, Lars Jonsson decided to start up his own business together with his eldest son, Micael Jonsson. Micael is today the president of the company and has also been joined by his brother, Mats Jonsson. The company is domiciled in Stockholm, Sweden.

The company has through time worked as exclusive housebrokers for various European owners in taking care of their ships as if they were their own in respect of chartering/operations/bunkering etc whereas crewing/technical management has rested with the owners. The goal is always to enter and maintain long and mutually beneficial business relationships and thereby also enable a build-up of regular trading patterns.

The company’s main area of business is drycargo chartering and operations of ships in sizes between 3000 and 25000 dwat. As time has progressed the emphasis has changed more from shipbroking into the role of an operator of coasters and as such mainly trading within the Baltic and to/from the continent.

Since January 2001, Lars Jonsson Trading AB has entered into a cooperation with Messrs Brodin Shipping AB with whom offices are now also shared. The cooperation consists of close chartering and operations exchange of all fixtures made.
